Nebaneba Night

This year was our 4rd Nebaneba Night. Our first event was in 2016. 'Nebaneba' means sticky, referring to ground jinenjyo(yamaimo) paste.

The event was held in January in 'The Rooftop' an English conversation bar in Okayama city.

Jinenjyo is a uniquely Japanese vegetable that you will not find anywhere else. At this event you can try it in various dishes; Okonomiyaki, Crepes, Tororo rice. In these dishes we have changed the recipe to use jinenjyo instead of flour, making a very unique dish you may not even find anywhere else in Japan. 'Tororo' means ground jinenjyo paste.

This is a bar where people come to talk and practice english. Naturally, English speakers are very popular. It is a great opportunity and a lot of fun to come and meet Japanese people, talk, drink and enjoy Japanese specialty food.

August is the pumpkin harvesting season, so at this time we eat very freshly harvested pumpkins.

In Japan, the Japanese pumpkin is more common and it is not easy to find western pumpkin to eat. Usually when it is farmed it is only used for Halloween carving and decoration.

Here at Jinenjyo Pumpkin farm and restaraunt we have a  pumpkin pie eating event.

We make a delicious pumpkin pie, Canadian style, using condensed milk, nutmeg and cinnamon.

The event lasts until we run out of pie.
